Apple Cider From The Farm

Apple Cider is such a blessing and we were able to press 10 gallons this year from our own homestead orchard!  See how it's done in our new YouTube video.
Also check out our Cook Book for other great apple recipes like Apple Sauce Cake, Maple Syrup Baked Apples, Sparkling Ruby Juice, and our Cooking DVD for Fried Apples and Onions.

Tip
You may be able to borrow an apple press from a neighbor, or they can be found online.

Blessings from our homestead.

1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Time to plant garlic!

11/3/2012

Hello, Everyone.
We are very excited about this video and hope you are too!  The garlic seed, the clove, can be planted in november in most areas-but try to get it in before Thanksgiving so you can have nice garlic to harvest by June or July.  Garlic is a blessing and can be used as a food and a seasoning-but it's also the world's best natural infection fighter.  Garlic can also deter insects so it makes a great border for your garden.

Many Homestead Blessings,
Vicki

P.S.  Tips:
-When grown together, garlic and tomatoes benefit each other!
-Plant garlic where no member of the cabbage family grew the year before.
For recipes using garlic check out our Herbs DVD and homestead blessings cook book.

Put Your Chickens To Work

Dear friends,
We hope this video will encourage you to let your chickens make your compost! They love to scratch anyway, so when you give them the materials, anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, you should be harvesting compost helpful to your garden and plants.

Happy homesteading,
Vicki
