Thanksgiving Season is upon us & we have so much to be thankful for! Our house was delivered to the new homestead site & work has begun on the Second Part- "Finishing"- Insulation, Wiring, Plumbing, Walls, Ceiling, Floors & Doors & other details.
We are so very thankful to the Lord for His abundant blessings through you, our dear friends & followers! Thank you for caring & sharing!!

Mom is looking out the living room window- we plan to put barn wood on these walls.
The floor is #3 grade ceiling lumber flipped over! It was installed (by our dear friends)          first, because we're still prepping the wall lumber.

Here's an update on the Second Part: Finishing the House

The shell ended up being $14,617. Then there was the cost of insulation, plumbing, electrical & flooring - so we really started looking for deals to finish the house! Friends helped us tear down an old shed with beautiful barn wood- it looked like enough for all the walls to us but when the finishing crew saw it they said it might do two rooms, so off to look for more wood! There are several lumber yards in the area so we decided to visit the nearest one & asked for the lowest grade pine or poplar, the lumber man said "Well, come see what we've got over here." So we walked over & saw this large pile of  long, rough cut pine boards. He said if we hauled them off we could have it all! WOW! The wood has been out in the weather for several months & is quite wet & moldy, but it's very thick. After talking to a few folks who work with wood & doing some research, we've been plaining the boards & scrubbing them with a borax/water solution to kill not only surface mold but go down into the grain & prevent mold!
                                                      Mold/Critter Killin' Scrub!!
1 cup borax to 1 gallon water- stir well
Scrub on, wipe off- let dry- no need to rinse as this will prevent future mold.

Jasmine & Hannah used a plainer for the first time last week & worked on 7 boards, we went to do an errand & when we came back there was a stack of boards plained thanks to our wonderful neighbors!  The next day some friends helped us scrub them with the borax solution & let them dry in the sun- the boards look great! We hope to do some more this week & start putting up the walls! Jasmine has been researching wood floor finishes & is sold on Tung Oil & Citrus Oil Solvent but realizes that we probably don't have the time to do this method. So she's also been looking at a product called Rubio Monocoat Oil that goes on with one application, dries in 7 days & is fairly natural, no VOC's! We will be using the Tung Oil to re-finish our dinner table & wood counter tops! here's the link to a really cool website that carries milk paint too, we may white wash a few walls & want to use milk paint! The Real Milk Paint CO
Things are moving along & while we won't be celebrating Thanksgiving in our new house, we will be celebrating & giving thanks to God for His provision through you, our faithful followers & friends!
Thank you!

Donations are still coming in through the Home Page of our website, thank you all so much-this will help with Part Three- "Homestead Necessities" & setting up the Homestead!
Thank you also for ordering with us- that helps a lot!
May the Lord bless you all & have a wonderful time of Thanksgiving!
